The Basics
Powered vs. Gravity Flex Conveyor
Flex conveyor, also called expandable conveyor, is a run of rollers or skatewheels on an accordion frame. It pulls out to full length, bends around corners and pushes back into a short footprint when you don't need it. The big choice is whether it's powered or gravity.
Powered Flex Conveyor
A motor drives the rollers, so cartons move on a level run without anyone pushing them. It's the pick for long runs and for loading or unloading trailers all day. You'll need an outlet near where it runs.
Gravity Flex Conveyor
No motor. Cartons roll on skatewheels or rollers, moved by a slight slope or a push. It's lighter, costs less and works anywhere, which makes it a good fit for shorter runs and occasional loading.
Where It Helps
Built for the Dock
Truck Loading
Run cartons from the dock straight to the nose of the trailer instead of carrying them.
Changing Trailers
Trailer lengths and positions change. Flex conveyor stretches or shortens to meet each one.
Busy Seasons
Add a temporary line for peak volume, then fold it away when things slow down.
Packing and Staging
Curve it around a packing table or staging area without bolting anything to the floor.
Flex conveyor is the one you pull out when a truck shows up and push back against the wall when it leaves.
Planning Guide
How to Size a Flex Conveyor
Four measurements cover most flex conveyor jobs. Have them ready when you call and we can tell you what fits.
Width
Measure your widest carton and leave a few inches on each side so it doesn't catch on the frame.
Extended Length
Measure from where cartons start to the farthest point they need to reach, such as the nose of a trailer.
Collapsed Length
Check the floor space you have for it when it's pushed in and parked against a wall.
Height Range
Note the dock or work height at each end. Adjustable legs let one unit meet more than one height.
Need a straight run too? We stock used gravity roller conveyor in 18" and 24" widths, plus adjustable stands from $28.

FAQ
Flex Conveyor Questions
What is a flex conveyor?
A flex conveyor, also called an expandable conveyor, is a line of rollers or skatewheels on an accordion frame. It stretches out to full length, bends around corners and pushes back into a short footprint when you're done.
Should I get powered or gravity flex conveyor?
Powered flex conveyor moves cartons on a level run with no pushing, so it suits long runs and all-day trailer loading. Gravity flex conveyor has no motor, costs less and works anywhere, which suits shorter runs and occasional use.
What flex conveyor do you have in stock?
Right now we have a used powered flex conveyor, 30" wide and 25' long fully extended, with adjustable legs. Gravity flex conveyor stock changes as we buy out buildings, so call 1-800-826-5326 for current lengths, widths and prices.
How do I pick the right size?
Measure your widest carton, the distance cartons need to travel, the floor space for storing it collapsed, and the dock or work height at each end. Call with those numbers and we'll tell you what fits.
Can I add straight conveyor to a flex line?
Yes. We also stock used gravity roller conveyor in 18" and 24" widths, plus adjustable stands, to extend a run or feed a packing area.
